I wanted to post a few of the phrases we've tried to learn these past few weeks at Findley Elementary. These are things you can quiz your kids on over the winter break to keep their memories fresh.
-What's your name? Onamae wa nandesuka?
-How old are you? Nansai desuka?
-What is this? Kore wa nandesuka?
-What color is it? Nani iro desuka?
-Please sit. Suwatte kudasai
-Please stand. Tatte kudasai.
-Please laugh! Waratte kudasai!
-Please eat. Tabete kudasai.
-Do you like it? Suki desuka?
-Do you dislike it? Kirai desuka?
I would encourage you to borrow from the library some books with either hiragana or katakana scripts to further introduce your students to the Japanese written language. Someday soon, maybe they'll be devouring kanji dictionaries!
